UHF RFID tags, typically EPC Gen2 (ISO 18000-6C) compliant, consist of a microchip and antenna embedded in a label or inlay attached discreetly inside books. These tags store a unique identifier linked to the library’s database, allowing for streamlined self-checkouts, automated returns, and real-time inventory tracking. Their low cost, durability, and compatibility with fixed or handheld readers make them ideal for large-scale library automation systems.
